Brett is returning for his 5th year with the hockey team, and 4th as Head Coach. Previously Brett worked as an Associate coach with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL. His playing career consisted of four years in the Ontario Hockey League, two in the ECHL (Johnstown and Pensacola) and four with the Saint Mary's Huskies in the CIS, where he earned a Degree in Commerce. Brett is excited to be back as all of the players on the team now; he has recruited and are starting to take the demeanor of their coach. After missing the play-offs for the first time last year under his tenure, the team has a completely different look with 8 new players. In 2007-2008 Coach Gibson was named OUA East Coach of the Year by his peers. Coach Gibson career record with the Gaels is 25-29-10. His ability to relate to the players and passion for the game are his greatest traits. Brett resides in Gananoque with his wife Angela, where he also works in his family business.
Andrew is returning to the Gaels for his fourth season and his role remains on the backend running the defense. Countless hours are spent with Coach Gibson on the road recruiting players once the season has concluded. Andrew works full-time in Corrections Canada as well and often has to juggle both jobs always looking out for the betterment of the team. His knowledge and passion for Queen’s hockey are very valuable in relating to the players concerns. Andrew was the Captain of the Gaels when he played here and his age allows him to relate with the players.
Assistant Coach: Adrian Haird, 1st Season
Adrian joins the Gaels staff for the 1st year replacing former NHL player Alyn Mccauley. He was one of seven candidates interviewed for the position and his enthusiasm was what sold him to the staff. Adrian come to the rink ready to work and the players will look to him for advice on a constant basis. He also works for Corrections Canada on a full-time basis.
Goaltender Coach: Nick Foley, 1st Season
Nick is coming into his first year coaching the Gaels. He will be the goaltending coach this year and will work very closely with the tenders. His playing career consisted of playing in OHL, UHL and CIS with Saint Mary’s University. Nick coached as an Assistant Coach with the Trenton Hercs of the OPJHL last season. He resides in Belleville and drives 50 minutes each way to attend practices and help the team out.
Equipment Trainer: Jason Jones, 5th Year
"Jonsey" returns for his 5th year as Head Equipment Trainer for the Gaels. Jason’s passion for the game and his commitment are second to none. Most nights in the winter you will find him in the dressing room at all hours making sure things are in place for the guys. When the boys need something they know who to go to, not only for equipment but also for a friend. He is up to date on the latest equipment trends and is always in the Coach’s ears about what to purchase.
